We are the only national pro-life organization dedicated to training and equipping college, high school, middle, med, and law students. We know that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry directly target young people for business, and the youth drive our culture. Yet, for too long, young people were simply an after thought in the pro-life movement. This generation deserves a full-time ministry dedicated to training and mobilizing them to abolish abortion on their campuses, in their communities, and across the nation. Every program and employee within Students for Life has measurable goals to achieve each school year. We monitor our impact by measuring the number of student pro-life organizations we serve; the activity/quality level of each student pro-life organization; the number of students we mentor, train, and their in-kind volunteer hours; the number of Students for Life groups and student leaders participating in our conferences, regional workshops, fellowships, and community mobilizations; and the earned media value of our narrative-shifting campaigns. We do not measure the number of babies our efforts have spared from abortion as that is simply an impossible number to estimate as our student leaders and team members are on multiple campuses each day educating students about the truth of abortion and creating tangible support services. On most days, we never know just how many pregnant women in crisis we’ve reached as only a few come back years later to tell us their stories. Absolutely! Students for Life strives to partner with numerous organizations each year. At our National Pro-Life Summit, students meet representatives from more than 30 organizations, and we frequently spotlight other pro-life organizations in our digital media outreach. Students for Life has been honored to help lead several national coalitions such as WomenBetrayed, Stop the Abortion Mandate, and the first-ever Defund Planned Parenthood Coalition all the way back in 2008. We frequently partner with organizations like F.O.C.U.S., Susan B. Anthony List, Live Action, Alliance Defending Freedom, 40 Days for Life, Equal Rights Institute, Sisters of Life, Thomas More Legal Society, Sidewalk Advocates for Life, Americans United for Life, and the Family Research Council.

For 14 years, Students for Life of America has relied on direct mail to recruit and maintain the support that we have to accomplish our mission to abolish abortion and build up the Pro-Life Generation. We communicate by postal mail — and other channels — not only to generate income and maintain our supporter base but also to educate the public thereby advancing our mission. As a result, in accordance with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines, we allocate a portion of our direct mail costs to program services and to fundraising.
Our program, administrative, and fundraising expenses are determined by an independent auditor and reported to the IRS. Because much of our communications to Americans educate about the violence of abortion and the abortion industry, a percentage of our direct mail and telecommunications outreach advances our mission. However, Charity Navigator uses a different calculation. We have pasted both calculations below for your review.
- Program Expenses
- IRS: 81%
- Charity Navigator: 59.4%
- Administrative Expenses
- IRS: 7%
- Charity Navigator: 5.7%
- Fundraising Expenses
- IRS: 12%
- Charity Navigator: 34.7%
